It's Official Trivium Announce Nick Augusto As The Band's New Drummer

Well the rumors turned out to be facts after all.

Trivium announced that their temp fill in drummer, Nick Augusto is now officially the band's new drummer. A while ago the interwebs started talking about former drummer Travis Smith sitting out Trivium's "Into The Mouth of Hell We Tour" with much speculation that the drummer will not be coming back to the fold.

Front man Matt Heafy states:

"We're really happy to have our good friend and fellow Floridian Nick Augusto join the Trivium family.

Nick's drumming is very technical and diverse and he brings a real intense energy to the band and we can't wait for everyone to hear the new song, 'Shattering the Skies Above," that we just recorded with Nick.

I think it's the best Trivium recording we've ever done; it’s raw, full of energy and I think Nick's drumming really pushed us to a new level."

The band already recorded a new song for the God of War III video game, out exclusively on PS3. The song is titled "Shattering The Skies Above" which will be available on the game's digital EP that will be released along with the game between March 16th and March 25th.

Trivium also recorded a cover of Sepultura's "Slave New World."

According to the band, "Shattering The Skies Above" will NOT be part of the band's next full length album, which the band will begin working on following their final tour in support of their 2008 release "Shogun." But the band stated that the song will give fans an idea of the direction they are heading towards.

There is a clip of Nick Augusto tracking drums for "Shattering The Skies Above" available after the jump:
