Rage Against The Machine Announce Date For Promised Free Show

After Essex couple Jon and Tracy Morter launched the ‘Rage against the Machine for Christmas No 1‘ Facebook site campaign earlier this month as a protest against X Factor chief Simon Cowell’s dominance of the festive charts for the past four years, the band has come good on their promise to perform a free show if their song “Killing in the Name” sold more than half a million copies and beat X-Factor winner Joe McElderry’s cover of Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb”.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE will fulfill their promise by playing a concert at London’s Finsbury Park venue on Sunday, June 6.

Tickets for the 40,000 capacity event will be distributed via a lottery system (at www.theragefactor.co.uk) with fans having until midnight on Sunday, February 14 to register their details for the ballot.

Fans will then receive confirmation of their registration number and details of when and where to apply for tickets.

Announcing the news on Radio 1’s Zane Lowe show guitarist Tom Morello said:

“We promised to play a free show if our song was number one at Christmas and here we come.”
