Disconnect From The World For 5 Minutes With Black Country Communion

It's hard not to deeply delve into a super group, when it's members have all been associated with the the biggest names at the forefront of hard rock and heavy metal.

Black Country Communion includes in it's ranks, the "Voice of Rock," Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple/Black Sabbath), former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinan, drummer Jason Bonham (son of late Led Zeppelin skinsman John Bonham), and acclaimed blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa.

The first thing that came to mind when I started listening to The Great Divide; one of the songs included on the band's debut album "Black Country" (out now), is that if you dump out any over the top expectations, and any sort of hype in your head towards the names involved. You'll right away get lost in the soulful blues, heavy and chunk filled, raw and vintage hard rock mastery, slabbed with Glenn Hughes monstrous vocals, that sound better than ever! I've given the entire album a couple of spins, and it does not disappoint for the most part.

The Great Divide starts off with a spine wrenching riff, backed with a perfectly low tuned bass line, giving way to Glenn to introduce the listener to the song's verse. All building up to a hell of an intense chorus. With an intricate solo, the song has so much energy to give in it's 4 min: 44 second time length. I was completely sold, and had to give the entire album a listen.
